80 hogs dead after tractor-trailer crash in Virginia

SUFFOLK, Va. — Authorities said 80 hogs were killed after a tractor trailer hauling the animals crashed in Suffolk.

WAVY Radio reported that the truck crashed Friday on Route 10 and also took down power lines and temporarily closed the road.

The truck was reportedly hauling about 180 hogs. None of them escaped.

The driver of the truck, Antonio Marquez of Goldsboro, N.C., was not injured but was charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain control.
