UPDATE: Winston-Salem man found unharmed

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man has been found unharmed and the Silver Alert has been canceled.

Michael Wayne Shelton, 59, was reported missing from 6029 Lura Road, Winston Salem, on Thursday.

Police responded to the residence on a report that Shelton had threatened to harm himself. He is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

He was located around 1 p.m. at a family member’s home. He was taken into custody pending mental evaluation.
