BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Firefighters in Burke County spent an hour removing hundreds of Christmas trees from the road after a tractor-trailer carrying them crashed on Thursday.

According to WSOC, the incident happened around 6 p.m. on a dangerous curve along Highway 181 north of Morganton.

The driver lost control and the truck overturned, officials said.

It was reported the driver had to go to the hospital, but he is expected to be OK.

Firefighters believe the trees were being delivered to Lowe’s home improvement stores.
