CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The search continues Thursday morning the gunmen who carjacked and shot a driver while a child was in the SUV.

According to WSOC, Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives worked late into Wednesday night to try and piece together a bizarre case with two different crime scenes involving gunshots, a robbery and a child.

Police said a man driving a black SUV with a child in the back seat was robbed at gunpoint. The driver is in the hospital.

Police said the suspects took off in the SUV with the man and child still inside the vehicle. The man was shot during the incident.┬áThe child wasn’t hurt.

Police said the suspects ditched that black SUV about a half mile away at Delta Crossing Apartments.

Police have not released the identity of the victim or a description of the suspect.
