ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Buncombe County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man in the shooting deaths of his mother and stepfather.

Vincent Thomas Wesley Franklin, 25, of Leicester, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of armed robbery. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Deputies say Joy Runne, 45, and Andre Runne, 44, were found with apparent gunshot wounds. Their bodies where discovered by a family member on Wednesday morning at their home on James Road in the Leicester community.

Police said the suspect is the son and step-son of the two victims.

“We had a family member that came to James Drive to check on some family people, and found two deceased people there at the residence. The Sheriff’s Office responded, we determined pretty quickly that this was a homicide, and we also had a vehicle missing from the residence,” Sheriff Van Duncan told WLOS.

Franklin was also charged earlier this month in connection with a stabbing at the Econo Lodge on Tunnel Road in Asheville. Franklin was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving in connection with that case.
