ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Rockingham County’s lead prosecutor Phil Berger Jr. is expected to announce Wednesday that he will run for North Carolina’s Sixth Congressional District.

Berger said he would never run against Coble but now that Coble is retiring, Berger will make his move.

Berger currently serves as Rockingham County’s lead prosecutor. He is the son of State Senate leader Phil Berger.

The announcement is expected to be made at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Reidsville.
