Residents help intruder who severely cut arm on broken window
SALT LAKE CITY — An intruder had to ask for help from the occupants of the home he was trying to burglarize after he severely cut himself on the window he broke to get inside.
According to KSL-TV, a 20-year-old man broke a window at a home last week and crawled through when a shard of glass caused a “large and deep” cut to one of his arms.
The three adults inside the home woke up to the sound of the shattering glass and screaming.
The adults, one of which met the intruder the prior week, helped the man out and he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Officials said it was possible that an artery was cut.
One of the residents thinks the intruder was trying to get away from other people chasing him, and jumped into the window to escape.
Before the intruder was taken to the hospital, he was still clutching a video game console belonging to the resident.
The man, whose name was not released pending his arrest, remained in the hospital Friday.
He was expected to be arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail after being released.
