Man killed in plane crash in Duplin County

DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. — A man is dead following a plane crash in a heavily wooded area north of Kenansville, according to WTVD.

According to the report, crews worked all day trying to locate a signal emitted by the plane’s emergency locator beacon. The search included Duplin, Pender and Sampson counties.

According to officials, the plan took off from Jacksonville, N.C., Sunday and was headed to Michigan.

The deceased pilot has not been identified, but according to reports he was in the military and his family has been notified.

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.
