Asheboro man accused of beating boy at bus stop

ASHEBORO, N.C. — An Asheboro man is accused of yelling at, pushing and punching a 12-year-old boy waiting at a school bus stop.

The Asheboro Courier-Tribune reported that 32-year-old Joshua Ryan Mitchell allegedly assaulted the child shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday at the corner of Draper and Rayburn streets.

The suspect’s son apparently goes to school with the boy who was assaulted and police said the two are evidently not getting along.

The suspect was charged with misdemeanor assault and has his first court appearance planned for Nov. 25.
