LUMBERTON, N.C. — The former president of the Tanglewood Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) was charged with embezzlement Thursday, according to the Lumberton Police Department.

The Fayetteville Observer reported that Angela Bono-Severy was charged with 39 counts each of forgery and embezzlement.

Her bail was set at $40,000.

In September, current PTA President Dawn Gavasci reported to the police that association funds were missing.

She reported that $10,000 to $15,000 was missing from the group’s coffers.

Parker said the investigation determined more money than the original estimate was missing, but an exact amount was not given.
