WAKE COUNTY, N.C. -- The entire first floor of a Wake County home was destroyed overnight after a truck drove through it.

According to WTVD,  a 22-year-old man in a Ford F350 was headed down White Dogwood Road in Apex when he went straight instead of following a curve in the road.

The accident happened around 3 a.m. Wednesday.

The driver, Taylor Mahew, has been charged with DWI, speeding, careless and reckless driving, along with hit-and-run.

The truck plowed into a transformer, clipped the side of a home before driving through the entire first floor of a neighboring house, leaving debris scattered everywhere.

The homeowner was inside at the time on the second floor, but was not injured.

Authorities said the truck also took out the stove in the house and hit a gas line, prompting evacuations of nearby homes.
