RALEIGH, N.C. — A Montgomery County man recently scratched off the $100,000 top prize on his Mega Bucks ticket.

Danny Cameron, of Troy, was buying gas at the ALCO on Albemarle Road when he decided to try his luck on two $5 Mega Bucks tickets.

“I was pumping gas and scratching the tickets,” Cameron said. “I won $5 on the first one and then had to do a double take when I scratched the other, just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. I showed the clerk and she came around the counter to give me a hug. It’s been wonderful. Life will be so much easier now.”
Troy said he plans to use a portion of his winnings to pay off his auto loan and other bills.

After state and federal taxes were withheld, Cameron received a check for $68,001. As of Wednesday afternoon, six more $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed in the Mega Bucks game.
