HIGH POINT, N.C. — A house fire in High Point displaced six people after the home was heavily damaged and rendered uninhabitable, according to High Point Fire Department Captain D.E. Lynch.

Lynch said crews responded to the fire at 201 Janice Drive around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Three adults and one child escaped the fire.

One of the adults had a minor burn that was treated by paramedics.

In total, six people lived in the home — five adults and one child. It is unknown if all six are related.

According to Lynch, the fire started in a bedroom and the cause is still under investigation.

Due to the extensive damage to the home, the Red Cross is assisting the residents in finding housing.
