GREENSBORO, N.C. — Jamal Fox defeated incumbent Jim Kee to win the Greensboro District 2 council race on Tuesday night.

Fox defeated Kee with 2,367 votes (52 percent) to 2,220 votes (48 percent).

In the days leading up to the election the race had become unexpectedly contentious.

Kee told FOX8 on Oct. 30 he reported concerns to both the Board of Elections and NC A&T University. Kee says a campaign worker told him a student said, “I better get my A” to Fox after voting for Fox earlier in the month. Fox is an adjunct professor at A&T.

In a press conference on Oct. 30, Fox denied ever offering grades for votes.
