W-S woman suffers injuries after being struck by a car

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A woman was injured when she was struck by a vehicle Sunday night.

Police say Patsy Beth Sims of Winston-Salem was struck around 6:30 p.m. by a 2005 Mercedes Benz in the 900 block of Thurmond Street.

The Benz was being driven by Earnest Richard Tatum Jr. of 3075 Heather View Court in Winston-Salem.

A second vehicle was being driven by Sherman Davis of Winston-Salem, who ran off the road to avoid rear-ending the Benz.

Police say they do not know why Sims was in the roadway when she was struck.

Sims was transported to Baptist Medical Center where her condition is improving.

No other injuries were reported.

No charges have been filed at this point.
