HICKORY, N.C. — Federal law enforcement officials have charged 43 people following a year-long investigation into a drug and firearms dealing in the Hickory area.
According to the Charlotte Observer, 19 people were arrested Tuesday on federal charges.
Federal complaints were filed against another nine people already facing state charges. 15 more people were jailed on state charges.
Officials say federal indictments were returned by a grand jury two weeks ago, but remained sealed until Tuesday’s arrests.
It was reported the sweep led to the seizure of more than 80 firearms, including 19 rifles, 10 shotguns and a short-barrel shotgun.
Authorities say they also seized more than two and a half pounds of cocaine and a half-pound of marijuana.
