WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem couple was arrested Monday in Raleigh on charges that they defrauded an insurance company, authorities said Tuesday.

Christopher Ingalis, 39, and Samantha Ingalis, 34, who live on Harmony Street, were each charged with two counts of embezzlement and one count each of insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense and conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense, the N.C. Department of Insurance said.

Investigators allege that couple conspired to defraud The Hartford Insurance Co. of more than $14,000 in workers’ compensation benefits, the insurance department said.

The couple was being held Tuesday in the Wake County Jail with their bonds each set at $150,000, the insurance department said.
