Catawba County 5-year-old saves family from house fire

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A 5-year-old boy from Catawba County is credited with saving his family after a fire broke out inside their home, according to WSOC.

“I said there was a fire in my room,” Jason Barnhardt explained.

Firefighters said the fire heavily damaged the home around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

The Red Cross was called to the scene to help the family with clothing and a temporary place to stay.

    Thank God he got his family and himself out of the house, in time before the
    fire got to bad. I hope they will be able to either fix, or move into a new home soon.
