HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Ready, set, clean. That was the mission all across North Carolina on Saturday as part of the 27th annual Big Sweep Challenge.
Church groups and high schools in High Point teamed up to pick up trash along the roadways, lakes and parks.
It wasn’t all work and no play – there was pizza, games and events for the whole family. It remains uncertain how much garbage was collected.
Last year, the volunteers in North Carolina picked up enough trash to fill almost 1,000 football fields nearly five feet deep in litter.
