CARY, N.C. — Xerox said Thursday it will close part of its call center operation at its Cary facility and cut about 500 jobs, according to WTVD.

The jobs will end in the middle of November.

The 500 jobs represent about one-third of the work force at call center.

Those affected all work for one specific line of business, but Xerox is not saying what client is leaving.

Workers told WTVD that it’s the call center operations for Sprint, however the company has not confirmed that.

The official word from Xerox is that they plan to hire back about half of the people who are laid off, and will begin making those hires the same week as the layoffs happen.
