SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — Funeral arrangements were announced on Tuesday for Jacob Pettitt, the Easy Surry High School student and soccer player that died over the weekend from injuries sustained in a crash earlier this month.

A viewing will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Fairview United Church, located at 3692 Quaker Church Road in Pinnacle.

Parking will be provided at Shoals Volunteer Fire Dept. with shuttle vans running to and from the church.

The funeral will be held at the church on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Pettitt, 15, died nearly three weeks after being airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in critical condition.

Authorities said Pettitt was driving a 2010 Nissan Maxima and crashed into a tree around 8:40 p.m. Sept. 3 near East Surry High School.

Darragh Boutis, 40, who is the mother of one of Jacob’s friends, was riding as a passenger. She was not seriously injured.
