Break-in reported at Raleigh’s Museum of Natural Sciences
RALEIGH, N.C. — Police said someone broke into the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh Sunday morning, although nothing appears to have been stolen.
Police told WTVD-TV that the break-in happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday at 11. W. Jones St.
Officials said the sprinkler system may have gone off as a result of the break-in and caused minor damage. The cost of the damage is still being assessed.
Authorities said the nature research center will be closed Sunday, but the rest of the museum will be open as scheduled.
The museum is the oldest established museum in North Carolina and the largest museum of its kind in the Southeast.
