Lexington man at center of Silver Alert last seen in Ga.

LEXINGTON, N.C. — A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing Lexington man.

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued the alert around 12:15 a.m. Friday for 73-year-old Johnny Glen Sims, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Officials say Sims was last seen by a state trooper in Athens, Ga. during a traffic stop on Wednesday. Officials are not sure where Sims may be heading.

Sims was driving a gold 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue with N.C. tags “ZZE2971.”

Sims is described as standing 5’9″ tall and weighing 180 pounds.

Anyone with information about Sims’ whereabouts is asked to call the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office at (336) 242-2105.
