Kernersville man charged in deadly shooting

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Kernersville man was charged Thursday in connection with the shooting death of a Winston-Salem man last week, authorities said.

Michael Damon Hines Jr., 21, who lives on Fallfield Drive, was charged with accessory after the fact to a felony, second-degree murder, Winston-Salem police said.

Dontae Renard Ross, 21, of Woodcote Street was killed on Sept. 12 in a drive-by shooting in the 2500 block of La Deara Crest Lane.

Hines was being held Thursday in the Forsyth County Jail with his bond set at $75,000, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 31.
