Man dies after shooting in Winston-Salem, police say

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem police said a man died from his injuries after being found lying in the grass with a gunshots wound.

Police said 21-year-old Dontae Renard Ross was found behind 2532 Ladeara Crest Lane after authorities responded to a reported shooting shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the victim was lying on the ground with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his buttocks. Officials said he was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he later died.

The victim was unable to provide any suspect information, but witnesses said several shots were fired from a dark sedan headed west on 25th Street.
