HIGH POINT, N.C. — City officials on Thursday morning will open the new Hartley Drive extension in High Point.

A “grand opening” ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at 150 West Hartley Drive.

The $12 million project, which includes a new bridge, is part of a 2004 bond that completes a major connection into and from Davidson County. Officials hope the extension will also remove a substantial amount of traffic from Westover Drive.

Construction began in January of 2012. Officials say the project has been completed months ahead of schedule.
