Pedestrian hit by car, killed in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Highway Patrol officials said an Asheboro man was hit by a car and killed Friday night in Greensboro.

Officials said 24-year-old Jose Escobar was struck around 11:15 p.m. while trying to cross southbound U.S. 220.

Escobar had been walking along U.S. 220 near Randleman Road south of Interstate 85, officials said.

Authorities said he was fatally struck by a car driving in U.S. 220’s southbound lane. It remains uncertain whether charges will be filed or not.
