REIDSVILLE, N.C. — Deputies are searching for two men who assaulted an elderly man with a baseball bat Monday morning during a home invasion in Reidsville.

According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just after 6:30 a.m. to a report of an 84-year-old man having been assaulted with a baseball bat at 2179 Lick Fork Creek Road.

When they arrived, they found the victim had “numerous injuries consistent with the type of assault described.” He was taken by ambulance to Annie Penn Hospital to be treated for the injuries.

The victim described his attackers as two men wearing ski masks and dark clothing. He said the suspects caught him by surprise, striking him in the hallway of his home and knocking him unconscious.

When the victim regained consciousness, deputies say he drug himself to a phone in the bedroom to call for help.

As of Monday afternoon, deputies said they were still looking for leads in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (336) 634-3232.
