LOWELL, N.C. — A Sanford man accused of killing an infant in his care has been arrested and charged, according to The Gaston Gazette.

Jason Michael Moore, 30, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree murder and two counts of felony child abuse.

Police said they were called to a hospital Aug. 13 in response to a 3-month-old girl who showed signs of child abuse.

Authorities said the child had a fractured skull and burns on her feet and legs.

The infant, Addison Rose Waller, was later transferred to a Charlotte hospital, where she died Aug. 17 after being removed from life support.

Lowell police said Moore was a friend of the child’s mother and sometimes babysat for the girl.

Moore was being held without bond in the Gaston County jail. It wasn’t known if he had an attorney.
