BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police are searching for a man who robbed a pizza delivery driver at gunpoint late Wednesday night at a Burlington hotel.

The robbery was reported shortly before 10:15 p.m. at the Red Carpet Inn at 978 Plantation Drive.

Police say the Domino’s Pizza delivery driver was robbed after making a delivery to a room at the hotel. The driver said he was walking back to his car when a man approached him, displayed a chrome, semi-automatic pistol and demanded money.

The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim before driving away in a gold, 90s-model Nissan sedan with tinted windows. The car was last seen headed toward I-40.

Police say they do not believe the customer was involved in the robbery.

The suspect is described as a black male with a beard standing 5’9″ tall and weighing 170 pounds. He was wearing all black at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to call Crimestoppers at 229-7100.
