GREENSBORO, N.C. — Firefighters responded early Thursday morning to a house fire in Greensboro.

The fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. at 5212 West Cornwallis Drive.

Firefighters say the residents were home at the time, but everyone got out safely.

The fire appears to have started in the basement of the home, firefighters said.

Traffic was blocked on West Cornwallis Drive between North Elam Avenue and Surry Drive for nearly three hours while crews worked to extinguish the blaze.
