GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police say an 18-year-old from Greensboro died Monday from injuries he sustained last week in a motorcycle accident.

According to police, Xavier Diggs Watkins was headed south on Bernau Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when his motorcycle struck a vehicle that was stopped at a red light at the intersection of High Point Road.

Police say witnesses “described the motorcycle as traveling at a high rate of speed.”

Watkins was taken by EMS to Moses Cone Hospital with multiple fractures, police said. He died Monday.

No charges are expected to be filed in the accident.
