WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a shooting early Friday outside a Winston-Salem nightclub.

Off-duty officers were attempting to clear a parking lot at Club Secrets on Northwest Blvd. when they heard gunshots and a "loud disturbance."

Officers found Larry Lamont Hatcher, 40, of 310 Tenth St., North Wilkesboro, inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second gunshot victim, Aaron Markel Carroll, was also located by officers. He was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.

The Winston-Salem Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and determined "some type of altercation" occurred which lead to the shooting. Police believe the men were inside the club before the shooting occurred.

No suspect information was available.
