Prayer shawls stolen from Alamance Regional Medical Center

BURLINGTON, N.C. — About a dozen prayer shawls were stolen from a locked cabinet in the chapel area of Alamance Regional Medical Center, according to the Burlington Times-News.

The Times-News reports the shawls were knitted and crocheted by women from the community. They’re typically given to patients who are struggling with an illness.

Jackie Allen, the hospital’s pastoral care director, tells the paper she has “no idea why someone would take them.”

Allen says the pastoral care department has found a more secure place to store the shawls, however there are “very few left,” according to the paper.
