LEXINGTON, N.C. — Tourism officials say annual visitor spending in Davidson County is up $5 million from the year before.
According to the Davidson County Tourism Professionals, visitor spending reached $136.94 million in the 2011-2012 fiscal year, accounting for $4.33 million in local tax receipts. The numbers were released this week by the North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Division of Tourism, Film and Sports Development.
The $4.33 million collected in local taxes is an increase of more than half a million dollars from the previous fiscal year when visitor spending totaled $131.74 million, officials said.
All 100 counties across the state saw an increase in visitor spending last year and Davidson County ranked 29th in total visitor spending, they added.
