THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A Lexington man has been arrested on charges of soliciting and abducting a child.

According to the Thomasville Police Department, officers responded just after 12:30 a.m. Monday to a home on Trotter Street concerning a 13-year-old girl who had left with a man in a vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle a short distance away and found the girl and the suspect, 18-year-old Daniel Alan Darling, inside.

Police say they found several text and Facebook messages had been exchanged between Darling and the girl.

“Darling enticed her to meet him with the intent to have sex,” police said.

Darling is charged with soliciting a child by computer for sex, abduction of children and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
