Lexington man arrested after chase in stolen car

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Lexington man was arrested after authorities said he stole a car, led deputies on a chase and then crashing the stolen vehicle.

Kevin Navarrete, 24, allegedly stole a 1999 Honda Civic out of a driveway in the 1200 block of Pine Top Road on Saturday.

Deputies said they found the suspect driving the stolen car on West Old Hwy. 64 shortly after the crime was reported.

Deputies said they tried pulling the suspect over, but he took off headed toward Lexington, eventually crashing into a home’s yard in the 700 block of Evergreen Avenue.

After the crash, the suspect allegedly got out of the car and started running, leading deputies on a brief foot chase before being arrested.

The suspect faces various charges including larceny of a motor vehicle, felony flee & elude and resist and obstruct and delay.

Deputies said he was placed in the Davidson County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond and has court planned for Aug. 20.
