GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Wyndham Championship tees off Monday morning and hundreds of people have been working to put on the week-long golf event.
Crews have been working all day to put the final touches on the Sedgefield Country Club for professional golfers and the thousands who will be in attendance.
This year’s 74th annual Wyndham Championship Golf Tournament will be seen in 230 countries, including China — from right here in Greensboro.
About 1,600 volunteers spent hours prepping the green. Mike Evel, a security and volunteer coordinator, said planning for the event began nearly a year ago.
“We actually have people that will come in and stay overnight because they really like to volunteer at the Wyndham,” Evel said.
Spectators can enjoy live music and drinks at the Wyndham tent and activities will also be set up for children.
Tournament director Mark Brazil said the whole family can have fun this year.
“Whether they’re golf fans, or just fans of sports, or fans of having a good time, we want them to have a great time,” Brazil said.
Parking for the event is at the Greensboro Coliseum and GTCC and will cost $10.
Attendants can have their cell phones all week, but after cameras are not allowed after Wednesday.
