HIGH POINT, N.C. — The North Carolina Shakespeare Festival may not have taken its final bow after all.

The organization had to suspend operations earlier this month, because it did not have enough money for production.

However, organizers stress they’re not shutting down, rather they are limiting operations with a reduced staff.

N.C. Shakespeare’s Artistic and Managing Director believes quick access to entertainment has had a negative impact on the arts.

“Making performance, particularly live performance relate and have value to audiences today, is even more challenging than it was a generation ago,” Pedro Silva said.

The company still hopes to perform its spring “Shakespeare to Go” program.
