WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --  Looking for a place to live in Winston-Salem? Add 205 new choices since Grubb Properties has broken ground on its new apartment complex across from BB&T Ballpark called The Link.

The Link will feature studio, one and two bedroom apartments. They will include energy-efficient appliances, granite countertops, hardwood floors, custom lighting, electric car charging stations, a pool, a gym, on-site parking and balconies with views of downtown and the ballpark.

"I think we are going to add a lot to this neighborhood. We were looking to find urban locations that have close proximity to employment, entertainment, and have a lot of young professionals that want to live in the area and this is perfect," said Rachel Russell with Grubb Properties Development.

Russell said her research showed many of the apartments already open have waiting lists and says there is nothing completely new like The Link.

The Class "A" apartments should open in the fall of 2014 and seek to meet National Green Building Standards.

According to the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership this project along with new apartments at Hilltop House, Winston Factory Lofts and inside the Wake Forest Innovation Quarter will raise the total number of places to live in downtown to more than 2500.

"We think the economy is moving and Winston-Salem is a great example of that," said Russell.
