Two arrested after attempted robbery in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police say two people were arrested late Tuesday night after an attempted robbery in Burlington.

Officers met with the victim shortly after 10 p.m. in the parking lot of El Tio 2 at 548 North Church St.

The victim told police two men attacked him and tried taking his property, but they ran away empty-handed.

Police say a K-9 tracked the suspects to a home in the 600 block of North Church Street. The suspects were detained and positively identified by the victim.

The suspects were identified as Dimeyo Alfred McGee, 20, of Burlington, and Allen Robert Venable, 23, of Burlington.

Both suspects are charged with attempted common law robbery. Venable is also charged with resist, obstruct and delay an officer in addition to an outstanding warrant for second-degree trespass.

McGee is being held on a $10,000 secured bond, while Venable is being held on a $10,300 secured bond. Their mugshots were not provided.

The victim was taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries he sustained in the attack.
