YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. -- Emergency crews rescued three people from the Yadkin River after their canoe capsized Friday afternoon.

Cuco Landin, his daughter Citlaly and his nephew Alex were in the canoe around 4 p.m., when they saw a capsized boat under the Yadkin River Bridge near Highway 421. They went to check on the boat, when they got stuck and capsized. The other boat had been abandoned.

“We just get close just to make sure it was nobody under. When we get so close, it was too late to go back and we bumped and then flipped,” Cuco said.

He managed to get to the shore and call for help.

Rescue crews from Yadkin County where able to get nephew Alex out first, then minutes later, Citlay.
