Neglected goats, donkeys rescued from barn in Henderson County

ETOWAH, N.C. -- A Henderson County man has been charged after goats, donkeys and a horse were found to be neglected and malnourished.

Deputies with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office found the six goats, two donkeys and a horse in an old barn on Burns Creek Road in Etowah after receiving a call from a concerned neighbor.

Jeffery Scott Landers, 39, of Hendersonville, has been charged with three counts of cruelty to animals.

The animals are all expected to make a full recovery.
