Missing Stokes Co. man’s body believed to be found

PINNACLE, N.C. — Stokes County deputies said a body found in a car down an embankment is believed to be a missing 22-year-old.

Deputies said they found a 2003 Red Dodge Neon around 9:38 a.m. Thursday in a wooded area off Brims Grove Road in Pinnacle with an unidentified person inside.

Stokes County deputies said the car was found with trees and brush from an apparent auto accident and emergency rescue workers were dispatched.

Deputies said they believe the victim is Brandon George Hunter, although a positive identification has not been finalized.

Hunter was reportedly last seen leaving Joseph Lane in Pinnacle around 5:30 p.m. Saturday in a car matching the description of the one found.

Deputies said the body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and positive identification proceedings. The crash is being investigated by the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
