HOGBACK, N.C. -- Crews are resuming a search Tuesday for a man who jumped off a rock at a mountain waterfall in Transylvania County.

The man, who has not been publicly identified, was at Turtleback Falls when witnesses say he jumped into the water. The man was spotted coming up from the water twice before he disappeared.

The U.S. Forestry Service has called in ground and air teams to search for the man, who they believe is likely dead.

Turtleback Falls is a popular tourist spot, but it’s been known to have some rough waters.
