Only two months after he was hailed as a hero for helping rescue three Cleveland women that were held captive for more than a decade, Charles Ramsey says he is broke, jobless and homeless.

Ramsey told the Daily Mail he’s broke. “That’s the truth,” Ramsey said.

Ramsey said he was fired from his job at a local kitchen because customers were frequently coming in to shake his hand. He said he was “shamed” out of his old home next to the alleged kidnapper after neighbors accused him of exaggerating his role in the rescue of the women.

But the Daily Mail also reports that Ramsey has made around $50,000 over the last two months largely from “corporate speaking engagements” and money raised by private individuals.

“Money goes fast if you have bills,” Ramsey told the Mail.

Ramsey refused any reward money from the FBI for the return of Gina DeJesus, one of the women being held captive in the Cleveland home.

OK, I really do not know what to make of this article.

Charles Ramsey rescued the three women in Cleveland. And he infamously said something like, “I knew something was wrong when a white girl was so happy to run into my arms.”

No, they report he is broke after being let go from his job. But, he earned $50,000 in speaking engagements.

The way the article is written, it almost sounds like the reporter thinks Ramsey is out to get rich or something.

OK, then the reporter let this slip, Ramsey denied the reward money from the FBI for the rescue. So, if all he was about was the money, I really think he would have taken the money from the FBI.

I would have, wouldn’t you? I mean honestly, if it was all about making money off of the ordeal, why not.

So, at the end of the story, I am not sure what to think? Is he a hero down on his luck? Or, is he trying to milk his being a hero?

    What do you think?
