GRAHAM, N.C. — A crash knocked out power Wednesday morning to hundreds in Alamance County.

Andy Thompson with Duke Energy tells FOX8 the outages started shortly before 6 a.m. when a car struck a utility pole on Southern High School Road.

The collision initially disrupted power for more than 700 customers, but power had been restored to more than 400 of those by 7:30 a.m.

As of 11 a.m., nearly 300 customers remained without power.

Thompson says crews hope to have power fully restored in the area sometime in the afternoon.
