12-year-old boy injured in drive-by shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Authorities said a 12-year-old boy was shot and injured in a drive-by shooting Sunday afternoon in Charlotte.

The Charlotte Observer reported that a bullet grazed the boy’s leg just before 1 p.m. in the 2600 block of N. Pine Street.

Charlotte-Meckleburg police said a car pulled up to an apartment and fired three shots, hitting the boy’s ankle with a ricocheted bullet. Police said the injuries are not life-threatening.

Neighbors said the victim is a fifth grader at Druid Hills.

A description of the suspect or suspect vehicle has not been released.
