33-year-old Adetoye Taoheed Adekanmbi

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police said they’ve arrested a suspect after one teenager was killed and another injured in a hit-and-run early Saturday morning in Raleigh.

WTVD reported that 33-year-old Adetoye Taoheed Adekanmbi is accused of hitting the victims who were walking near the intersection of Hillsborough Street and Dixie Trail just before 12:45 a.m.

Police said 18-year-old Natalie Chidlaw was pronounced dead and Meghan Clarke, also 18, was taken to WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries. Clark was listed in good condition.

Officers said they found the car involved in the crash in the 100 block of Chalfont Way in Cary Saturday afternoon.

Shortly later, they said a man who lives near where the dark Volkswagen was found was detained for investigative purposes.

Adekanmbi was charged with two counts of felony hit and run causing bodily injury or death and with driving while license revoked.

Police said the suspect is being held in the Wake County Detention Center under $64,000 bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday.
