Montgomery County issues state of emergency

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, N.C.– Montgomery County has issued a state of emergency after strong storms impacted the area Thursday evening.

North Carolina Emergency Management damage assessment teams were in the county Friday, completing a survey of impacted areas.

Montgomery County Emergency Services has opened an emergency shelter at Page St. Elementary School to assist those without power.

Anyone in need of transportation to the shelter is asked to contact Montgomery Communications at (910) 572-1313.
